What happened if you just downloading your favorite application and want to change the default application to open particular file? For example, I just downloaded Smultron, a text editor, to replace Mac OS X default text editor application, TextEdit.
I thought this can be done easily by right click the file that I want to open, and change the default application. Just like in Windows :-). But, apparently that not the way it should be!

Question: Q: How to set up default user profile for os x 10.12 Sierra I'm trying to use the process for setting a custom default user profile from OS X 10.10, but it's being problematic. It says it can't find the English.lproj folder, then it won't delete the file, etc.

Uncle Google helps me lot by pointing to several applications that can change this default application preference but then I thought why is this thing would take so much efforts just to change the default application preference.
Playing around a bit, I finally found the way to change the default application preference.
Just right click the file that you want to open and choose Get Info. In the Open with:, change the default application you want and click Change All…. You will be questioned whether you are sure on changing this default application preference. Too easy! click Continue will solve the problem.
